The Prince's visit will be interactive, the Royal Visit Committee says.

Saint Lucia's Royal Visit Committee said the island is ready for the arrival of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales.

HRH is scheduled to arrive in Saint Lucia tomorrow, as part of an official visit to the Caribbean on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.

Executive Chair of the Royal Visit Committee, Sen. Hon. Adrian Augier detailed the committee's preparations in anticipation of the visit.

“Behind the scenes we have held a series of meetings sometimes well into the night, where we have been trying to put together the bones of the program. All of that had to be approved of course, back and forth between ourselves and Kensington Palace. We also had to ensure that everybody on the ground here was well informed and had a fair amount of responsibility in planning. We held a democratic process. Even though there is a core of about six people, we allowed the other agencies to come in and take charge of their elements of the program."

Sen. Augier detailed the events included in the visit.

“The Prince arrives at Pointe Seraphine by boat where there will be a welcoming ceremony comprised mostly of government officials and dignitaries. Then there will be a welcoming reception at Government House hosted by Her Excellency, Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy, where the Prince will meet a range of people. We wanted to make it so that everybody had a little interaction.

"We also focussed on activities by notable Saint Lucians, whether in sports, community service, or the arts. Those are some of the key areas.

"On Friday, there will be an exhibition match at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium where the Prince's team will play against the Prime Minister's. After the sporting event, we go to Pigeon Island, where Her Excellency will host a lunch for young people. After the lunch the Prince will join us for the planting of trees. We have trees for 17 of the constituencies around the island. At Pigeon Island we will also have the unveiling of a plaque which is going to be dedicated to part of the Castries Forestry Reserve. There will also be the unveiling of a plaque of poetry by Derek Walcott.

"The Prince will then travel to Soufriere which is the last part of his voyage and there he will interact with a large cross section of the Soufriere community.”

Sen. Augier said it will be a visit with a difference.
