The Folk Research Centre (FRC) has started early preparation for the most widely celebrated cultural event in Saint Lucia, Creole Heritage Month.
The month long celebration which includes Creole Day (Jounen Kwéyòl), is slated for October this year, and will mark the 31st annual observance.
As early as February, the FRC approached four potential host communities. The communities were chosen in accordance with the FRC's new policy that aims to prevent communities' monopolization of the hosting of the event.
The 2015 host communities are Boguis in the north, Laborie in the south, Ti Rocher, Micoud in the east, and Canaries in the west.
Jounen Kwéyòl will be celebrated on Sunday, October 25. The event, which began in 1984 in Mon Repos was suspended only once due to Hurricane Tomas in 2010.
