NEMO urges extreme caution as tropical wave moves over Saint Lucia

RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITIES IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS URGED TO BE VIGILANT.

As reported by the Saint Lucia Met Services on July 11, 2023, the island is currently experiencing the effects of a Tropical Wave.

The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is advising residents and communities in flood-prone areas to take extreme precautions due to the potential for flash flooding and land slippage.

UPDATE: 6 P.M. FORECAST FOR SAINT LUCIA VALID FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS

Winds will be blowing from between the east and southeast near 14 mph or 22 km/h, with gusts near showers. Weather: Mostly cloudy with some scattered showers tonight. A gradual improvement is expected from tomorrow with increased dust haze. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to exercise caution. Persons with respiratory ailments and dust allergies are advised to exercise caution.
